Job description

As a Senior Instrumentation Technician), you will be responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems critical to the safe and efficient operation of the facility. This role requires strong technical expertise in instrumentation, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a challenging offshore environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and calibration of instrumentation and control systems including pressure, temperature, level, flow, and safety systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic tests on instrumentation systems to identify and resolve issues promptly, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Coordinate with other departments such as operations, electrical, and mechanical to ensure integrated functioning of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of instrumentation upgrades, modifications, and installations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibration reports, and inventory levels for instrumentation spare parts and equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and assist in their training and development.
  • Monitor process parameters and alarms, implementing corrective actions as needed to maintain safe and efficient operations.
  • Follow established safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and the team.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors as needed for specialized repairs, spare parts procurement, and technical support.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory requirements related to instrumentation and control systems in offshore environments.
  • Actively participate in emergency response drills and procedures to ensure readiness for any potential incidents.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an Instrumentation Technician in the offshore oil and gas industry, with specific experience on FPSOs preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles, control systems, and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
  • Proficiency in reading P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), loop diagrams, and control system drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation calibration equipment, troubleshooting tools, and software systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards and safety protocols (e.g., API, ISO, HSE).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team.
  • Physical fitness and willingness to work in challenging offshore conditions for extended periods.
  • Strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
