Job description

We currently have an opportunity within SPIE Oil & Gas Services Middle East LLC in Qatar for:

Head of Business

This is an opportunity for a key member of the project's leadership team, reporting directly to the Business Manager. The role is to ensure that the project obtains the services needed to achieve project goals related to cost, schedule and project management controls. Leads efforts to ensure the project is executed in accordance with QGPMS expectations. During Execution phase this role will liase directly with the Project Manager on all Business related matters.

Key Job Accountabilities

1. Responsible for stewarding the implementation of QGPMS and the objectives within his Functional Group and the corresponding EPC Contractor's Team.
2. Leads and directs the work of the PMT's Business Group.
3. Monitors Contractor's performance in areas of cost, schedule control and procurement and provide advice as necessary to make certain Company's and the Project's objectives are achieved.
4. Provides advice on cost and schedule impact of changes, modifications or alternates by keeping abreast of engineering, procurement and construction activities.
5. Arranges for the preparation of bid invitations and manages the respective Bid Evaluations.
6. Prepares all required data for management reports.
7. Performs PMT office administration duties and coordinates PMT matters with Qatargas and Shareholders Organizations.
8. Reviews and endorses EPC Contractor's invoices and change orders submitted for approval.
9. Provides training to PMT staff on business related functions.
10. Provides support to the Project Manager on Contract Administration issues/matters.
11. Acts for the Project or Business Manager when required during absence(s).
12. Conducts periodic meetings with the Contractor to review progress and report on the status of the project
13. Authorize and audit all FEED and EPC contract performance reports.
14. Responsible for weekly, monthly, and annual reporting on project SHE &S activities progress, schedule and safety.
15. Coordinates with Contractors SHE&S personnel, project management team, project personnel and Qatargas operating personnel for all SHE&S project deliverables.
16. Provides SHE &S input to contractors and PMT during all phases of the project.
17. Ensures cost effective Safety programs are utilized by the PMT to improve project efficiency, reduce project costs and maintain high safety level and schedule along with the highest quality.
18. Assist in the implementation of Qatargas cost control procedures and change order evaluation


Ideally you will have Preferred Bachelor of Business Management degree or equivalent experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good supervisory skills
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years broad experience in all project phases i.e. engineering, procurement and construction.
• Recommended Minimum of five (5) years as a Business Manager, supervising teams.
• Worldwide experience with Contractors and Vendors, in particular those involved in the construction of offshore facilities
• A high level of proficiency in written and spoken English
• Computer literacy involving the regular use of professional office applications and some technical applications
