SPIE Oil & Gas Services is seeking a skilled and dedicated ATEX Instrumentation Technician to join our team. As a key player in the petroleum industry, SPIE OGS is committed to maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and expertise. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and reliability of electrical and instrumentation systems within petroleum facilities, from well to export.
Duration : 3 months (min)
Location : Offshore (Tenerife - Dakar)
Responsibilities:
Engineering:
- Read and utilize drawings, single-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, and vendor documents.
- Possess knowledge of electrical symbols.
- Understand cable sizing and voltage dropping concepts.
- Familiarity with a general facilities electrical network philosophy, including main generation, emergency generators, switchboards, and UPS.
- Basic understanding of inter-tripping and interlocking actions, load shedding, and load-sharing modes.
(For electrician technicians) Basic understanding of cathodic protection systems.
Equipment:
- Understand the working principles of main electrical equipment, including voltage & current transformers, electrical motors, alternators, feeders, UPS, batteries, speed variators, soft starters, graduators, HV/LV switchboards, lighting, and heat tracing panels.
- Awareness of preventive maintenance requirements for electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM) requirements and thermography purposes.
- Understanding of earthing systems: IT, TT, TN, and DC unearthed system.
- Basic knowledge of PLC working principles, including logic diagrams with modules such as AND/OR, NAND/NOR, clock, delay, latch, memory, microprocessor.
- Understanding of inhibit, alarm, and trip concepts.
- Knowledge of electrical protection principles, including short circuit, overload, earth fault, reverse power, transformer, alternator, and motor-specific protections.
- Familiarity with explosion-proof materials and associated requirements.
